G'day from New Zealand,
ATV's have certainly made life easy. When I was starting out working on farms in the mid 1980's ATV's were only then coming out. The 3 wheeler was great but a potential death trap. I am guilty of falling off one and watch it bounce like a football down into the gully. Much to my bosses delight!
Four wheelers soon supersided these and are now considered a must on most farming operations. Twenty years ago most stock work was done by horseback and still is on big stations. Smaller paddocks and lane ways have seen horses turned out and exchanged for their gasoline counterparts.
Combined with hunting they certainly take the back breaking side of things away. In my younger "gun hoe" days and with adrenalin pumping I wouldn't think twice about throwing the deer on my back and walking, or should I say stumbling, for 3 hours to camp. With access to better hunting grounds with ATV tracks most animals are shot, dragged and lifted onto the trusty Honda.
Hunting with us is done on thousands of acres of farmland with miles of ATV tracks offering spectacular views and excitement.
